Yasha Butler is a ceramic artist currently based in Barcelona and Istanbul. Her work has been exhibited at galleries in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Montana and California.
She has been a resident at the Museum of Arts and Design (New York, New York) and Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts (Newcastle, Maine). She has participated in numerous juried shows such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show and the Baltimore American Craft Council Show.
From 2006 to 2009, she worked as a technician and maintained a studio at The Clay Studio (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). She opened a studio in Brooklyn, New York in 2009 before moving to Barcelona, Spain.
Since 2011 she splits time between a studio just outside the city of Barcelona and one on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus in Istanbul, where she was born and raised.
She received a degree in Interior Design from Cornell University in
2001. Upon graduation, she formally studied ceramics at Laney College (Oakland,
California), under Nuray Ada (Istanbul, Turkey), at Penland School of Crafts (Penland,
North Carolina) and at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts (Deer Isle, Maine).
