Janie Lowe received her BFA from Texas Tech University and her MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She illustrated for publications such as the New York Times, Random House Books and a book, The Great Ridley Rescue, written by Pamela Phillips. After a few years of freelance illustrating in New York, she moved to Portland, Oregon to live between the mountains and the coast.

Janie has had the honor of studying with the illustrator Marshall Arisman and master painter David Leffel. Her work has been in the Oil Painters of America National Exhibition at the Steamboat Springs Museum. She received the Patron’s Award at the Museum of Texas Tech University exhibition in 2021. Lowe received the Friends of the Gorge award for the PNW Plein Air 2022 and over the past 30 years has shown in galleries in New York, Texas and Oregon.

Janie currently works and teaches workshops in her studios in Portland and Manzanita, Oregon.
